Why are there so many advertisements for Animal rescue organizations, peta, funds for shelter animals?

but theres only a fraction of a push for LOCAL(no not the $1 a day can save an child in africa or the buy a laptop give one to a kid in a hut somewhere) kids on the streets or sleeping in cars or basements in need of food shelter safety(real safety not these childrens services stepping into families becasue of untrue allegations adn taking over)? where are our priorites?Is it because we know that if the kids that do survive adapt to the streets we'll "take care of them" by putting them in jail?
