Why do the majority of democrats and republicans not want change in foreign, domestic and monetary policies?

We are Trillions of dollars in debt and we continue to recklessly spend money we don't have on the stupidest sh*t... why do we allow this? Why do we blindly except our political parties ideals without any thought for our individuality? I know many people are waking up but it seems the lust for financial gain over shadows our will to end human suffering now more than ever.. We are so quick to put things (that distort and complicate life's simple truths) like media, politics, economic hysteria, social status etc before humanity and many people though aware of it, choose to remain silent because they feel they have no power... WHY???????????
